Can an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) call and inspect my food business at any time?
Yes , any reasonable time without warning
I have been doing this job for years why should I have a food hygiene certificate?
To make sure you are up to date with current legalisation and to give you formal recognition
I have a large stainless steel sink in the kitchen but no hand wash basin, this is OK isn’t it?
No it's not !
What do the letters PPE stand for I have seen these letters mentioned?
Personal Protective Equipment
Do I need to be qualified to work in the catering industry?
No but training and qualifications are desirable to give you a better insight into the industry
Are cracked tiles a problem providing I keep them clean?
Yes they are a problem , small parts can land in food , they cannot be cleaned easily , parts of them could become and are porous which will harbour bacteria.
If I have diarrhoea can I still come into work?
No and if you have to go to a doctor tell him you are a food handler and they will advise
